Meet the Team.

Amy Avent, Editor in Chief

I'm a Politics and International Relations student, based on the Regent St campus. I am involved in smoke mag because I saw a gap in student media which needed filling by a fun, dynamic student led magazine which engages with you on a regular basis. I have seen that student's don't just want to be fed the facts and are looking for a student media platfom which represents them. My career idol is Jon Snow (no, not the one from GoT) and an interesting fact about myself is that I once fit 42 peices of popcorn in my mouth!

Imani Livingston, Deputy Editor in Chief

I'm based on the Harrow campus studying Contemporary Media Practice and one day hope to become a photographer as well as a magazine editor. I became a part of smoke magazine because I wanted to experience the creative rush of a production, to collaborate with different personalities as well as begin my journey to becoming an Editor. An interesting fact about myself is that I love to cook and as sad as it sounds my idol is my mum.

Dainyika Jackson, Graphic Designer

Hi I am Dainyika Jackson I’m in my second year of studying Graphic Communication Design at Westminster University. I’m the design editor and my role is to design the smoke magazine, I provided the university magazine with a new vibrant magazine for the students to read.

Lareb Naseem, Music Editor & Social Media Coordinator

I look forward to showing you all what I can do with this new segment as well as how much Music is a major influence. I'm currently studying Contemporary Media Practice at Harrow Campus. My aim with the magazine is to hopefully remind people of the vast range in which Music can and always will bring people together. I've always loved music as it's been a major inspiration in both life and work. I have no bias in regards to genre, if it speaks to me and I dig it then it's all good. KDramas are my guilty pleasure and a personal quote that I live by is: “Hold your own, know your name and go your own way.” - Jason Mraz

Noemi Martini, Culture Editor

My name is Noemi Martini, I’m a 20 years old Hungarian Londoner. I’m a first year journalism student, with dreams as many and as crazy as they can be. My role model is Christiane Amanpour, in my career; I want to follow her footsteps, by becoming a Central European Correspondent.  The other side of me is a girl who is living in the world of poems and books, and where poets are my lovers.  My biggest dreams are to have my own poems published, to help people as much as I can and to become a strong-minded, independent woman with a huge closet and at least that huge confidence.

Kiera Chapman, Assistant Culture Editor

I study BA Journalism on Harrow Campus, and am involved in smoke mag to collect, provide and share cultural insights in an entertaining manner to the students of the University of Westminster. I sing, play guitar, speak French and write a lot. Too much caffeine also kind of gets me drunk like alcohol.

Charlotte Racher, News Editor

I'm studying journalism at the Harrow campus. I'm involved with smoke magazine to broaden my extra curricular work and gain experience for my C.V (bit nerdy). I'm a strong Haribo and nap enthusiast and a part-time therapist in my group chat. My major flaw is the excessive use of the word 'banter' and variations of the word but I'm working on it. I dream to be working for a females magazine one day.

Cristian Angeloni, Lifestyle & Sport Editor

I am a Criminology, 2nd year student based in Regent's Campus. I'm Very fond of music, dancing, musical, art and everything concerning lifestyle (i.e. trends, technologies, food and much more).

Tia-Rochelle Jones, Fashion Editor

I am an English Literature and History student at the Regent St campus. I have always wanted to be a fashion editor so to start at Smoke Magazine is an amazing opportunity that will allow me to put out the content I have always wanted. Smoke also are shifting into a new and exciting direction that doesn’t just scream ‘University Magazine’ but is actually its own production that anyone whether they are a student or not can enjoy. My interests are going to super intimate indie gigs, 70s style clothing, collecting black boots and magazines, and old horror movies. An interesting face about me is that six years ago I was in ‘Waterloo Road’ and met Jenny from ‘Tracy Beaker’ which was a massive deal to my 13 year old self.

Omar Balde, Assistant Fashion Editor

I'm a Journalism student based at Harrow. I have many style icons but my main is Coco Chanel, she is a huge inspiration to me and was a large influence in my fashion choices when I was younger. I am writing for smoke magazine because I am really passionate about fashion and want to express that through journalism.

Patricia Hilbert, Photography Coordinator

I am studying Digital Media and Communications in Harrow Campus, first year. I have been part of the Smoke Magazine team as a photography coordinator since freshers week. I wanted this position badly, and it seems that my experience in this field gave me the opportunity to apply for it. I joined the team because I want to get an insight of the publication process, as I want to be either a photographer either to work in a photo-processing company.
