American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson Review

‘People vs OJ Simpson’, is one of the latest TV shows to kept audiences in suspense week after week to hear that final verdict. This crime story revolves around the notorious murder trial of O.J Simpson. The protagonists and the antagonist reveal that this crime story presents a journey to the truth as well as a journey to the unknown.

So, is he Guilty or Not Guilty?[endif]-- A constant back and forth throughout the miniseries. The love that Simpson (played by Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr) had for his wife Nicole, really makes us as an audience simply view him as a devoted husband who has lost his wife in the worst possible way.

The debate is that Simpson essentially ‘got away with murder’, however ‘People vs OJ Simpson’ want you to feel an element of compassion for a man whose life has been shattered. ![endif]--

It’s more than just a case! The element which has everybody hooked on this series is that, although this was probably one of the most publicised cases of our time, the show delves into so many legal, social and cultural issues that were further corrupted by the tabloids. The many faults of the criminal justice system and the ‘race card’ debate are the main themes that are also touched upon.

So what’s with all the hype?[endif]-- Like the majority of TV shows out there, the hysteria usually lasts for about a day (as an audience the one thing we can’t stand is predictability). However ‘People vs OJ Simpson’ tapped into the mind of the audience, finding so much more underneath the surface.

Even though the infamous trial of OJ Simpson was in 1995, racial profiling and discrimination are one of the many issues that are still relevant today. Instead of excessive emphasis on this, ‘People vs OJ Simpson’ lets you draw your own conclusions, but still reminds you that discrimination and racial profiling is it still an issue. ![endif]--
